Learning Library FAQ

How do I know if counseling is right for me?
You don’t have to be in crisis—or feel like something is wrong with you—to benefit from counseling. Sometimes you simply know that something feels off, you’re navigating a life transition, or you want support. Counseling offers dedicated time focused on you—a space to slow down, gain perspective, better understand yourself and/or your relationships and move forward with greater clarity. Your time in counseling can be meaningful, supportive and is truly your own.

Do I need to know what to talk about?
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes you know exactly what you want to work on, and sometimes you simply know that you want something to feel different. We can start wherever you are and explore what feels most important together.

What can I expect from counseling?
Counseling is a collaborative process where we take time to understand what’s happening in your life, what matters to you and what you’d like to change or understand more clearly. We’ll work together to explore patterns, develop new perspectives and find approaches that feel useful and realistic for you. You can expect a thoughtful, supportive space where you can be yourself and move at a pace that feels right for you.

How long does counseling take?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people come to counseling for a specific concern or life transition and find that a shorter period of counseling meets their needs. Others choose to continue longer as they work through deeper patterns or focus on ongoing personal growth. We can talk together about what makes sense for you and adjust as your needs change.
