This past summer I visited my Mom in her apartment, which is located in a retirement community in Pennsylvania. During the visit, we gathered with some residents in the common room and we were all talking. The residents told me that they really enjoyed the group conversation. So I had an idea for my area of Central Texas.

I created ✨ Therapy with a Twist ✨
I’m Melissa Gaber, fully licensed psychotherapist and owner & operator of Gentle Connections Counseling since 2015. “Therapy with a Twist” is group therapy for older adults and adult residents in a retirement community. This group offers a welcoming space to connect and support one another through the healing power of shared experience. By bringing therapy right into the community, I help residents feel heard, understood, and more connected, supporting emotional well-being and a stronger sense of community. Examples of group topics could include life transitions, couples group, caregiving, aging & physical health, creative arts, grief & loss, anxiety/depression, art exercise, small group, women’s group, changes in health/independence. Maybe a few couples want to have a group and discuss couples related issues. |
